Zoning By-Law Workshop

So you need a new zoning by-law. Where do you start?

Lehman & Associates will be hosting a one day workshop on "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Zoning ……And Now Need To Ask". This Zoning Workshop will be led by Bob Lehman and Alison Luoma of Lehman & Associates – the authors of the first zoning by-law adopted under the Provincial Growth Plan. With over 50 years of experience in both writing zoning by-laws and providing evidence on zoning issues at the OMB, Bob and Alison have worked together on the review and restructuring of Comprehensive Zoning By-laws in many municipalities throughout Ontario.

The session is designed to assist staff in establishing the proper approach, including a workplan, providing the technical tools needed to harmonizing existing standards within current planning frameworks, and dealing with the more typical issues arising from implementing the Growth plan.

This session will provide answers to questions such as:

• How to structure a workplan?
• Who should be involved?
• What kind of documentation is appropriate?
• What resources and background information will be needed?
• How to translate Official Plan directives into zoning regulations?
• How will the Growth Plan requirements be reflected in on-the-ground zoning strategies?
• What to do with all those special provisions?
• How can the by-law be structured to be user-friendly and enforceable?

We are more than happy to structure the workshop to address issues that are of particular relevance to the workshop participants.
